Dick has over 40 years’ experience in road, rail, aviation, bus and coach and ferry transport. His recent focus has been the liberalisation and regulation of rail and surface transport.
Dick spent ten years in engineering and planning and 14 years at PwC, where he advised extensively on cross-Channel transport and privatisation of the rail industry. Since 2002, his work at Steer includes the Fourth Railway Package, rail fares and quality and liberalisation of coach services for the European Commission, and studies of night trains and the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative for the European Parliament.
Dick enjoys focusing on understanding and evaluating transport infrastructure and services as products – what is the customer proposition, how will competitors react, what has been overlooked, what can go wrong – drawing on his wide industry experience.
At Steer, Dick also provides training on our house styles of presenting information and report-writing and regularly presents internal seminars on emerging issues in transport.
